Surviving as a Wedding photographer in todays economic downturn.

Get Noticed and Survive with DIY Simple Marketing

These days it seems to survive as a wedding photographer is becoming as difficult as it gets. If you go online you will notice that it’s as saturated as it can get. It has become a business full of “photographers” who have shot one wedding and then put up a web page and they call them selves photographers, underbidding all other true professionals and their what should be standard rates. It gets tougher and tougher to see a return on your investment in the wedding photography advertising. With too many vendors through wedding planning resources to over saturated photography vendors at the bridal shows, it seems more difficult to make ground against the numbers. Combine the obvious factor of a declining economy and now we have an environment that is as tough as it gets. This environment has given me time to think about how to separate myself from the rest. I have determined that staying on top of marketing is going to be where my efforts are this year.

The first obvious best thing one can do to keep an edge over your competition is to affiliate yourself with industry people. Personal referals will always be the best for of advertising. Chances of booking a word of mouth lead I feel is always going to be greater than anything else.

Also, make current and frequent portfolioblog updates and notify through social networks. Get people interested in following your work. Due diligence and hitting the pavement to circulate your promotional work will also always get results.

In the end we’d like to think that the cream always rises to the top so to help all you Oregon wedding professionals I have created a list of Facets to put your advertising dollar towards :
